P is for POTATIS = (Swedish for 'potatoes')

We eat a lot of potatoes in Sweden. It is hard to think what it must have been like here before this root-fruit was introduced. (We ate more cabbage.) But potatoes were grown in Sweden even before Jonas Alströmer (1685-1761) was born. Alströmer is often attributed to being the one who first introduced the potato to Sweden.
