Mother May I? Mrs. Jenny Matlock's Saturday Centus Week 71

Jenny Matlock

Welcome to Saturday Centus, Week 71, Mrs. Jenny Matlock's writing challenge, where participants are asked to write a PG-rated text to a given written prompt, in any style or genre of writing, a picture is allowed, and using only up to 100 words (or several 100-word posts), not counting the three words in the prompt. This is week 71 and the prompt is: 'Mother May I'

My poem follows here:

Mother May I?

Mother may I play with blocks?
Oops, I 've taken off my socks!

Mother may I have a candy,
I'll brush my teeth just fine and dandy?

Mother must I go to school?
Yes, I will learn the golden rule.

Mother may I travel far?
I really want to be a star!

Mother may I kiss this boy?
He's my life, he is my joy!

Mother will you pray with me,
When nightmares will not let me be?

Mother will you close my eyes,
When all is quiet, both pain and cries?

Mother, tell me, will I always be loved,
By you and the Lord in Heaven, above?
