Romantic Friday Writers Appreciating the Zealotry Challenge No 36

Here are two posts for the A to Z Challenge that I would like to repost here. The letter  X-post to remind me to write more for children. And the letter Y because it is simply an expression of joy for the colour yellow.

The Letter X

Today is Friday, 27th April 2012, and the letter is 'X'. Yes, I took the easy way out, and chose 'X marks the spot' as my Etsy treasury theme. It's about pirates and treasure maps!

If you have children, especially boys, you cannot avoid at some point, being forced to 'walk the plank' or help dress Captain Jack Sparrow for a birthday party. Here is Erik as Jack Sparrow:

And this is Elisabet's treasure-map:

Children's literature is filled with pirates, from Captain Hook in Peter Pan, to Johnny Depp's unsinkable cinema character. (I know, many of you will raise a warning finger and tell me that those movies are not suitable for children. I know, I know. But, at least, I sit with them, watch, translate and explain that, 'No, no, you can't do that at home. Johnny Depp is not hanging there. It's a specially trained stuntman, and besides there is this enormous tvelve-layer, princess-and-the-pea-mattress for him to land on!)

I'll stop here because we are supposed to keep these A to Z-posts short. But I have reason to return to the fantasy-world of sea-going cut-throats at a later date. Ah, it's the pirate's life for me!

The letter 'Y'

Today is Saturday 28th April 2012 and the letter is 'Y'. 'Y is for Yellow', one of my favourite colours!

April is drawing to a close and so is 'Blogging from A to Z'. Lets hope that there are spring flowers where you are, and even some yellow daffodils blooming, here in the north!

Hello Anna, I only got to visit a few times during the A-Z so its great to have another chance to see your pretty posts. Your children look adorable! Now I am hanging out for a swashbuckling pirate story for RFW. If.you check the next prompt - Yes, no, well alright then - it might work! So excited to read it!

Have a great weekend!

I just had to laugh when I saw the post was about pirates. Yes, my son has had a pirates birthday party. I went one further last year and built a whole pirate ship in the back yard (photos on my blog).

Hope you feel better soon.

Dear Anna,
My wife love pirates movies. Also, i agree with you that X marks the spot. I could't resist telling you that. Thanks for the pretty pictures.

Beautiful posts, Ana. And yes, everyone has to do the pirate thing. I think it's OK to expose children to pirate movies if you are there to interpret and guide. When I was about seven, my father gave me his boyhood copies of Treasure Island and King Arthur's Knights of the Roundtable. He told me it was important to read these. I can't imagine life without these two books.

I went through a pirate phase when I was a kid. Always dreamed of finding a treasure map.
