'It is our pleasure...' - Mrs. Jenny Matlock's Saturday Centus Week 105

Jenny Matlock

Welcome to Saturday Centus, Mrs. Jenny Matlock' writing challenge where participants write their own text to a given prompt using 100 or less words, plus the prompt, which is 'it is our pleasure...'
------
Here is my text:

In 1941, Veronica Lake portrays a beautiful but unsuccessful Hollywood wannabe starlet in Preston Sturges film, Sullivan's Travels.

Lake's character meets, in a trailer-café, a hobo, played by Joel McCrea, who cannot order anything more than coffee and a doughnut.

Veronica takes pity on this stranger and buys him ham and eggs. But the tramp is not really penniless, but in fact, the very rich motion picture director, John L. Sullivan, who is merely in disguise as he collects information about  being poor and homeless, in order to make his next film, Oh, Brother Were Art Thou?

After making many many successful comedy films, Sullivan wants to make a serious film that really means something to the common man. Veronica's alter ego offers to join him.

A lot of silly and funny things happen in this wonderful film. Sullivan and his 'boy' companion, Veronnica Lake, are finished researching the poor, and Sully goes out one last time without Veronica's character. Sully gets amnesia from a blow to the head and winds up in a prison-gang somewhere in the swamps, without any means of reaching the studio people. They think he is dead.

The one bright spot in the lives of these prisoners, is the picture-show on Sundays:

'Ladies and gentlemen, it is our pleasure to show this motion picture.'

Everyone laughs hysterically, and John L. Sullivan finally learns the meaning and importance of making others laugh.

Word count according to WordCalc: 233+ the prompt's 4 words.

I'm sorry, I usually can cut it down to size, but I really would like to share this post, as it is.

Best wishes,

Mrs. Matlock's instructions:

Welcome to week ONE HUNDRED and five of Saturday Centus.

Mr. Jenny and I are still in San Antonio seeing some of our loved ones and enjoying (not really) the super high humidity.

I was so tired of a day of running around and looking at cool stuff the only prompt I could come up with came off the card instructing me to how to link to the in room internet.  It is our pleasure, they begin...on the brochure, and, hey...that's good enough for me!

So...

The prompt this week is: "It is our pleasure..."
Number of words: 100 PLUS the four words of the prompt for a maximum word count of 104
Style of writing: Any
Pictures: As many as you like

The regular restrictions apply: PG, no splitting of the prompt, play nicely and visit the other entries, any style or genre of writing you prefer. Please display my link button or just a hyper-link back to Saturday Centus. Be careful to link your SC URL to the Linky and not just link to your main blog.
E-mail me directly with ???'s or ask your question in a comment and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible.
