Today is Friday, 20th April 2012 and the letter is 'R'. 'R is for Rainbows' and 'R is for Rubies':
By the way, according to Victoria Finlay's book, Jewels, Ruby is hard enough to score 9 on Mohs relative hardness scale, harder than Amber, Jet, Peridot, Pearl and Emerald; about the same hardness as Sapphire, but softer than Diamond.
