There are similarities, sure, but who's to say that's even Bram's original idea?
When you brought up the relationship aspects of Harry Potter, I thought your were possibly going with (Lord of the Rings) Sauron, who has a palantir crystal, as does Denethor and Sarumon. With it he maintains a psychic link that ends up making Denethor and Sarumon go a little crazy... Which is something Snape tries to train Harry to avoid in the Potter series.
I totally agree with your main point, though. It's all been done before, somehow, someway.
Happy late IWSG to you!David T Listhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01926089396786215115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1712353207460785993.post-61294261102620510922013-12-05T12:06:32.378+01:002013-12-05T12:06:32.378+01:00Good one. But I think your are right with the 'borrow a villain' strategy. after all they are all stories that will be around forever so it obviously works well to create wonderful stories. I do wonder whether the authors were aware they were doing it or whether it was a subconscious thing bringing the villains of their own childhoods to life as they produced their stories??? Something to think about.Tanya.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08436595615435609755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1712353207460785993.post-20601588872165056342013-12-04T16:52:36.811+01:002013-12-04T16:52:36.811+01:00I never realized that about the Snow Queen either....I never realized that about the Snow Queen either.
